What is an IP Whitelist?

With IP Whitelists you can control who has access to the site’s content based on their location using the IP Address as an Identifier. Stacks allows you to identify single IP addresses and Ranges of IP Addresses to automatically authenticate without the need to login with a username and password. With IP Whitelists you can:

  1. Define access to specific pages or elements; or
  2. Have Site-Wide protection, only allowing IP addresses that have been whitelisted.

There are no limits to the number of IP Addresses that can be whitelisted.

Whitelist a Range of IP Addresses
  1. Navigate to the IP Whitelist tile (Dashboard > System Configuration > IP Whitelist)
  2. In the first available IP range section, enter the Starting and Ending IP Addresses.

  3. If you need to add more IP Addresses that are not part of the range you just added, click the ADD IP RANGE button and repeat steps 1 & 2.
  4. Click the SAVE button.

Accessing the Site from outside IP Whitelist Range

When a patron or user tries to access the site from a device that is not within the IP Whitelist ranges they will have two options:

  1. Log into their Patron or Staff account if they have an active account.
  2. Self-Register for a new Patron account if self-registration is enabled.

Note: Self-registration is only applicable if the self-registration feature has been enabled in Stacks.  Click here for Full instructions on enabling Self-Registration.
